's Commitment to Employee Training
"At CMA CGM we're strongly committed to enhancing our employees' skills because we know they're the cornerstone of the company's success."
Our corporate university FIRST (French Institute for Research, Studies and Training) was established in 2000 at the Chairman's request, with the aim of developing both individual and team skills.
FIRST offers CMA CGM employees training throughout their careers in the following areas:
Maritime skills
Training given by in-house specialists and open to all employees
"On the job" skills
Training programs designed to meet the needs of our major job families, by getting new employees "up and running" as quickly as possible and supporting career development opportunities.
Efficiency in the workplace
Techniques and resources to help employees optimize their workday and improve their work practices.
Languages
Two options are available to employees who wish to improve their linguistic skills: the language lab (English, Spanish and French) and language classes. To enable employees to practice their language skills in a more casual setting, CMA CGM also organizes intercultural lunches where many languages are spoken, including English, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and Russian.
Computer skills
Short training sessions to learn essential computer skills.
Masters in International Maritime Management
A Master’s degree created by CMA CGM in collaboration with the CECE international trade and logistics management school and France’s ENMM merchant marine academy. The degree is aimed at young high potentials and is recognized by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles.
First also organizes monthly "Discover The Group" days to welcome new arrivals and give employees the opportunity to get to know each other better.
