CMA CGM’s Corporate Foundation

France’s law of August 1, 2003 on corporate philanthropy encourages the creation of foundations within French corporations.

For years, CMA CGM had been committed to underwriting worthy causes and raising awareness about important issues. This spirit of corporate patronage moved CMA CGM to create its Corporate Foundation in 2005.
This legally independent organization is financed solely by its founders through a five-year endowment of five million euros. The foundation is led by its President Naïla Saadé.
She is assisted by Isabelle Billet.

Goals

The Foundation’s main underwriting efforts support two types of programs:

  Humanitarian
CMA CGM’s Corporate Foundation seeks to promote the well-being of children, particularly children with disabilities or lengthy illnesses. Its dedication to children’s issues includes support of NGOs such as Handicap International and the International Red Cross. The Foundation is currently seeking a noteworthy or innovative long-term project in this area.

  Cultural
CMA CGM’s Corporate Foundation also supports many artistic and cultural activities (museums, the opera, theaters, dance, music, and the arts). The Foundation has acquired a collection of contemporary art and recently established an award to honor an outstanding artist.
In 2007, CMA CGM's Corporate Foundation awarded this prize to N+N Corsino, Nicole and Norbert Corsino, choreogrpahers and researchers interested in new technologies.
The pair expresses its choreographic creations in the form of films and "scenographic" installations that have been shown at the Pompidou Center in Paris in 2006 and in Marseilles in 2007.
Selected as the first-ever winners of the prize awarded at CMA CGM headquarters in Marseilles on December 3, 2007, N+N Corsino presented an excerpt of their latest work, Seule avec loup, at headquarters.
