Alain Wils



CMA CGM Group Chief Executive Vice President, was born in 1943.

After completing his secondary studies at Lycée Henri IV in Paris, he entered the HEC business school, where he studied economics and accounting.

Alain Wils then joined Delmas Vieljeux, an operator of regular shipping lines and freight forwarder specialized in Africa. He held a number of positions within the Group and was named Managing Director in 1981. Once the merger with SCAC had been completed, he resigned from the position, in February 1992.

Alain Wils then moved to SCETA, part of the SNCF Group, as head of international operations (freight forwarding, road haulage, shipping agent and stevedoring) and foreign subsidiaries. SCETA was later renamed GEODIS.

In 1996, Alain Wils joined Jacques R. Saadé at Compagnie Maritime Générale (CGM) as Chief Executive Vice President.

Following the merger with CMA in 1999, Alain Wils was named CMA CGM Group Chief Executive Vice President, serving in the same capacity as Farid T. Salem and Rodolphe J. Saadé.

Since 2006, he has been President of Delmas, coordinating the group’s investments in West and Central Africa. He also manages the partnerships with SDV Group.
