The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation rewards the association Scout Arc-En-Ciel with its 2011 Prize
The President of the CMA CGM Corporate foundation, Mrs Naïla Saadé rewards today the association Scout Arc - En - Ciel for its commitment within the social and humanitarian fields and especially their work with disabled children.

In Marseilles, the Corporate Foundation was impressed by the outstanding work performed by the Scouts Arc – en – Ciel Association. Scouts Arc – en – Ciel in Marseilles is an autonomous offshoot of the Scouts de France and Guide de France. The “raison d’être” of this association, whose teams are all volunteers, is to contribute to the wellbeing and fulfillment of disabled children by organizing scouting activities for them within a group bringing together children from 8 to 20 years old. This association helps children affected with Down’s syndrome, as well as those who are physically and mentally disabled in an appropriate framework and care structure.

In 2011, more than 15 children have benefited from this association, through weekly outings, cultural and sports activities and a summer camp. These children have had the opportunity to experience for a day or a week end, with their friends, a unique scout adventure, encouraging them to go beyond their physical and psychological limits.

Mobilized to alleviate the suffering childhood and especially those with a disability, The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation was very impressed with this unique initiative in France.

“To encourage the development of disabled children is a commitment that concerns us most particularly. For this very reason, it seems obvious to us to reward Arc - en - Ciel among the many applications we received, so the association can pursue and build on its activities;” explains Naïla Saadé, President of CMA CGM Corporate Foundation.

The reward was presented to Thierry Bonnetête, who runs the Scouts Arc – En – Ciel association and works for CMA CGM Group as Senior manager RORO services and Specialized Transports .

About CMA CGM Corporate Foundation:

Sensitive to humanitarian causes, CMA CGM Corporate Foundation was created in 2005 by the Group bearing the same name to support the well-being of children in need.

Led by its President Mrs Naïla Saadé, CMA CGM Corporate Foundation has helped and supported more than 80 associations committed to improve the wellbeing of underprivileged children (infants, young children and adolescents) in France and Lebanon. It supports learning, educational, social and medical projects for children living in precarious circumstances, or with disabilities or who are suffering from a long-term illness.

Some of the program the Foundation supported includes the financing of rooms Mother-Children within a Unit of heavily burnt people, the Centre Interrégional des Grands brûlés à l’Hôpital de la Conception in Marseilles and a medico-legal center held by the association La Voix de la Femme Libanaise, in an underdeveloped area of Beyrouth.

The foundation relies on an Executive board comprised of members of the Group General Direction and external experts, whose knowledge of stakes involved with underprivileged childhood allows an enlightened decision making over future projects.

Because solidarity is a matter for all, CMA CGM Corporate foundation is particularly sensitive to the social commitments of its collaborators.
