Fleet
With its dominant role in trade, the container transport industry is developing to support economic growth around the world. Over the past three years, global traffic has increased at an average annual rate of 13%. To respond to this growth, CMA CGM invested during the year in 28 new containerships and ordered 78 new vessels for delivery between 2007 and 2010. The recent months also saw the arrival of the world’s largest containerships flying under the French flag.

US: CMA CGM explore alternative ways for shipping to be more green
Whilst a number of the big shipping lines, notably NYK and MOL, are proposing new green ship designs for their next generation of container and carrier vessels, French line CMA CGM are exploring a number of alternative means so as to improve the environmental image of sea freight.

CMA CGM christens 1,700-TEU vessel
"France's CMA CGM Monday christened the first in a series of six 1,700-TEU vessels dedicated to the Europe/Guyana/North Brazil trade at the Port of Southampton in the United Kingdom. The U.K.-flagged CMA CGM Herodote (...) is already the largest to ever dock in Saint Maarten and Guyana."
