CMA CGM continued to open new lines and strengthen existing services in all regions in which it operates. Anticipating future developments, the Group bolstered its positions in such fast-growing markets as India, Brazil and Vietnam.

  • CMA CGM expanding new Asian subsidiary Cheng Lie

    "French container shipping giant CMA CGM is continuing to expand new acquisition Cheng Lie Navigation's (CNC Line) network with four new services this month. The new services follow the start of three others in September as CMA CGM looks to boost its intra-Asia business as well as expand the Taiwanese carrier into new markets such as the Indian subcontinent."

  • Cheng Lie to enter China/India trade

    "Taipei-based Cheng Lie Navigation Co, which was acquired by Marseilles-headquartered CMA CGM in March 2007, is carrying out its promise of extending its intra Asia liner network west beyond Singapore. Over the next two months the carrier will launch two new service strings, with both connecting the high growth economies of China and India."

  • MacAndrews takes on road hauliers with Bilbao service

    "MACANDREWS, the UK-based subsidiary of CMA CGM, launched its new Reefer Xpress Service in late June. Operating between the ports of Bilbao, Sheerness and Rotterdam, the service is being maintained by the 300 teu capacity George Mitchell and will initially provide a fixed-day weekly frequency."

  • A sea change for cold change

    "Temperature-controlled transport will be cheaper by sea than by road on many routes by 2009, according to the MD of CMA CGM's UK subsidiary MacAndrews (…). MacAndrews launched a weekly four-day door-to-door Reefer Xpress service late last month, carrying fresh produce from Bilbao to Rotterdam and Sheerness."

  • CMA CGM heads east

    "CMA CGM is to start a new dedicated liner service between ports in Asia and North Africa, via its hub of Malta. This new North Africa Express service, which is due to start on the 15 June 2007, will operate with seven ships of 3,000-teu."

    "French line CMA CGM is later this month adding a U.S. call in Miami to its weekly Brazil Caribbean Express (BRAZEX) service. The 1,730-TEU vessel "CMA CGM Paulista" will make the first call at the South Florida port on March 23. (…)"

    "French giant decides to launch its own service after being badly affected twice by outside developments (…) The New Europe Mascarene Oceania service will connect Europe with Australia and New Zealand but also serve the Indian Ocean islands, Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia.
