  • CMA CGM aid ship arrives in Beirut

  • CMA CGM mercy mission to Lebanon

    "A RO-RO ship provided by French shipowner CMA CGM has left Marseilles loaded with humanitarian supplies for Lebanon, writes Janet Porter. The line has made the ship available at no cost to the French government, which is co-ordinating the aid effort. CMA CGM, the world’s third largest container line, is owned by Jacques Saadé and his family, who come from Lebanon and have close relatives trapped in Beirut. They have been monitoring the deepening crisis very closely since the Israeli offensive began and working on ways to help. The company also has 150 staff employed in its Beirut office. The French-flag CMA CGM Cap Camarat, owned by CMA CGM subsidiary SudCargos, has a crew of 16 including the master, French national Jacques Portail."

    "(…) Or, at least, that is how much space Dame Ellen MacArthur’s B&Q trimaran is taking up on the CMA CGM Bizet as it heads off to China where the world record holder will be taking part in a series of races. Loading the precious cargo on to the large containership (pictured right) was a slow and delicate operation watched with some anxiety by Dame Ellen and her team, as well as senior CMA CGM and Southampton Container Terminals staff."

  • CMA CGM helps get Ellen’s challenge under way

    "The first stage of yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur’s challenge to establish a series of records in Asia and between the Chinese ports of Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai and Hong Kong started yesterday, when the trimaran B&Q was lifted on to the forward hatches of the 6,662 teu CMA CGM Bizet at Southampton.
