In support of the Mauritanian government's efforts to combat covid19, CMA CGM Group donated 20,000 individual surgical masks for health protection on Thursday 13 August.
This assistance, which was received by the Prime Minister's Adviser for Social Affairs, Dr. Hampathé Ba, together with officials from the Health Department, will help strengthen the efforts of the existing health system.
This assistance, says the Prime Minister's adviser, will allow for a rapid response in terms of stimulating prevention against the virus.
Dr Ba Hampathé thanked, on behalf of the Government, the French Group for this support, which shows the Group's mobilization to face this unprecedented health crisis and its commitment as well as its solidarity with all Mauritanians and especially with the medical staff in this exceptional circumstance.
He recalled the appeal made by the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, at yesterday's Council of Ministers to pursue precautionary measures to counter the spread of the pandemic.
In turn, the Group's Managing Director, Mr Christophe Jourdan, praised the leadership of the President of the Republic, who reacted very early on to save the country from this scourge. He stressed that CMA CGM Group has put in place a comprehensive system to protect the health of its teams mobilized every day to support the transport and logistical delivery of goods, particularly the basic necessities Mauritania needs.
The Group, which has been operating in the country since 2014, makes nearly 100 port calls a year and is a stakeholder in the maritime, port and logistics development of Mauritania, where it will continue its mobilization in the coming months to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the representative of the French Embassy in Nouakchott, the Group's technical adviser, MP Hamdy Ould Hamadi and other personalities.
