French President François Hollande inaugurates the extension of CMA CGM-PSA container terminal in Singapore

CMA CGM, a leading worldwide shipping group, and PSA, one of the largest international port group, inaugurated March 27 the commissioning of the extension of their joint terminal, dubbed the “Lion Terminal” and located on the brand new Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore.

During an official state visit, Mr. François Hollande, President of the French Republic, officiated at the event in presence of Mr. Khaw Boon Wan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport, Singapore.

Doubling operating capacity

CMA CGM and PSA had inaugurated CPLT first phase in July 2016: the terminal was equipped with two mega container berths with an initial annual capacity of 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). With the addition of two more berths under Phase 2 of its development, CPLT is now equipped with a total operating capacity of 4 million TEUs.

A performing joint venture

Since early 2017, CPLT has achieved top service levels with an average Gross Berth Productivity of more than 160 moves per hour for the mega vessels, with peaks at 220 moves. Leveraging the industry-leading port infrastructure and technologies including the state-of-the-art yard automation, CPLT is in condition to service the vessels of CMA CGM and other shipping companies.
