The biggest containership flying the French flag

23 April 2017, Indonesia: CMA CGM OTELLO today arrived Indonesia as the largest container vessel to call the country at the Jakarta International Container Terminal. The occasion also celebrated her impending maiden voyage for the industry’s first direct service from Indonesia to the United States (U.S.) on 24 April.

The CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN has successfully completed its maiden calls to the U.S. by berthing in the Port of Oakland on December 31, 2015. She was the largest vessel ever to call this port, or any other port in the U.S.

The CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN will call at the port of Los Angeles on December 26 and Oakland on December 31. She will be the largest vessel ever to reach U.S. coasts. By deploying an 18,000-TEU capacity vessel to the U.S., Jacques R. Saadé, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, reflects CMA CGM’s faith in long-term growth potential of the U.S. economy, and its commitment to increasing its U.S. market share.

CMA CGM, a leading worldwide shipping Group, is pleased to announce that the CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, an 18,000-TEU vessel named in honor of one of the United States’ founding fathers, will call at the port of Los Angeles on December 26, 2015. It will be the largest container ship of this capacity ever to call at any port in the United States. The vessel will later call at the Port of Oakland on December, 31.
