Strict Enforcement of Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Discrepancy Penalty
Dear Esteemed Customer,
The penalty for discrepancies between the physical weight of containers and the weight declared on the Bill of Lading (B/L) is now being strictly enforced. This measure is crucial to prevent handling accidents and optimize vessel loading operations.
To avoid penalties, please ensure the accuracy of VGM declarations during submission, ensuring they precisely match the actual container weight indicated on the B/L.
As per B/L Clause 25 (5). “Without prejudice to any other rights and defenses afforded by the Bill of Lading - and irrespective of any loss, damages, fines and expenses suffered or incurred by the Carrier that may always be claimed by virtue of clause 26 - in case of any failure of the Merchant to comply with the clause 25 (4), the Carrier shall be entitled to charge the Merchant at any time an amount of USD 2,000 per Container as processing and operational
fees in addition to a misdeclaration fee of USD 15,000 per Container for dangerous Goods cargo and USD 5,000 per Container for non-dangerous Goods cargo.”
