The CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, and American President Lines (APL), the Group subsidiary dedicated to serving the U.S. government and its military, today announced that they will provide hundreds of Thanksgiving meal boxes to military members and their families in the Washington-Baltimore metro area.

Working closely with USO to benefit U.S military members
In coordination with USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore (USO-Metro), the donated meal boxes will be distributed to major military installments across the Washington-Baltimore metro area in several key USO-Metro Centers. Each box feeds a family of six and will help make celebrating the holidays possible.

The entire CMA CGM Group is committed to supporting American families
Last week, the Group announced it would be donating 35,000 meals across America, distributing a total of 10,000 turkeys to families in need in:

  • Lake Charles (La.) – already distributed 2,000 on Nov 13
  • Houston (Texas) – 2,000 to be distributed on Nov 20
  • Los Angeles (Calif.) – 2,000 to be distributed on Nov 20
  • Nashville (Tenn.) – 2,000 to be distributed on Nov 20
  • Norfolk (Va.) – 2,000 to be distributed on Nov 21

The Group will also donate thousands of Thanksgiving meals to support charitable food distributions in:

  • Norfolk – Nov 22
  • Charleston (SC) – Nov 23
  • Savannah (Ga.) – Nov 24

In the past few months, the CMA CGM Group has also provided critical supplies, including large refrigerated containers with generator sets, to several Louisiana communities impacted by Hurricane Laura. The company also provided much-needed firefighting equipment and storage containers to support relief efforts related to the recent California wildfires.

Ed Aldridge, President of CMA CGM America and American President Lines North America, stated, “CMA CGM and APL both have long traditions of giving back to those that serve and protect us. While COVID-19 has impacted how many families will spend Thanksgiving this year, we are proud to be able to provide meals for hundreds of military members and their families this holiday season.”

Lisa Marie Riggins, USO-Metro Executive Director, said, “We are so thankful to CMA CGM and APL for their generous donation of meals for military members and their families. During the holiday season, it is especially important that we all take the time to give back to those who serve our country in uniform.”
